How Our Systems Work

Our Thermal Solar System works just like your existing heat source, except it is powered by free, clean solar energy rather than expensive, dirty carbon fuel. The Thermal Solar System is your primary heat source. Your boiler, stove / immersion heater will automatically raise the water temperature as and when required, on less sunny days. Even when solar energy levels are low, the evacuated tubes will add some heat to the water, so your existing heat source will do far less work.

There are four main components: Ritter Evacuated Tubes, Digital Controller, Circulation Module and a Hot Water Cylinder.

The digital SR-5/2D control box is the heart of the system. By using digital sensors to compare the temperature of the water in the collector, with that in the cylinder. When the collector is 6 degrees centigrade warmer than the cylinder, the solar pump switches on and the water circulates through the system, transferring heat to the cylinder.

If the temperature difference is below 6 degrees centigrade, the pump turns off to stop the water in the cylinder being cooled. The controller LCD display will continually show 4 temperatures throughout the system, showing you accurate readings. This controller also has Holiday Mode Setting, so you have no worries when going away. No matter how long you are away for, this will automatically take control, once selected.
